Stolen Yorkshire terrier flags down van
Alfie was dumped by burglars but managed to find his owner 100 miles
away after barking at an RSPCA officer's van.
A dog stolen from its owner, then abandoned more than 100 miles from
its home, has been rescued after stopping a passing RSPCA van.
Alfie ran into the middle of a country road in Gerrards Cross,
Buckinghamshire, and barked at inspector Stephanie Law's van to get her
to pull over.
Ms Law stopped and the Yorkshire terrier jumped in as soon as she
opened the door.
The RSPCA officer scanned the dog's microchip to find out its owner's
address and discovered the seven-year-old dog had been stolen from a
house in the West Midlands on 21 March.
She said: "I have had plenty of people wave me down for help, but I
have never actually been flagged down by a dog in need of rescue before.
"It was as if he recognised my uniform and knew I was there to rescue
him."
The RSPCA believes Alfie may have been dumped in woods but came
running out when he heard the van driving by.
His owner Kirsty Mitton, 23, is over the moon to have Alfie back, who
seems none the worse for wear after his ordeal.
"We didn't think we would see him again," she said.
Unfortunately, Alfie's fellow terrier Lillie, who was also taken in
the burglary, is still missing and does not have a microchip fitted.

Teacher facing suspension after posing next to 'sexy snow woman'
A teacher is facing suspension after she posed next to a 'sexy'
snow-woman built with a red bra and G-string.
Cilem Sakine Coskun is accused of violating social values after she
was photographed next to the carefully crafted sculpture, which was made
by students.
The picture, which was posted on social media, upset educational
authorities because the snow-woman boasts a curvaceous body, unlike the
more traditional snowman shape.
The bizarre row has kicked off at Nurhak Anadolu High School in
Turkey, after the PE teacher posed on the playground.
One unnamed student commenting online said: "This is a load of snow
balls, it was just a bit of fun. Everybody makes snowmen so we thought
it would be a laugh to make a snowwoman. "Our teacher is good fun and
popular and she joined in. I can't believe there is an investigation by
the Ministry of Education."
Local teachers union Egitim-Sen condemned the investigation and
linked it to the death of Halil Serkan Oz, an award-winning Turkish
teacher who died due to a heart attack after he was reprimanded by a
governor over the length of his hair, beard and scruffy clothes.

Man wakes up to find tattoo on his back
A man woke up after passing out at a party to find his friend had
tattooed his back. Josh Darnbrough, 24, had passed out at a party
recently when the pratical joke took place. His friend Rob Gaskell, also
24, inked the words "If found face down call an ambulance" using a DIY
tattoo kit. Darnbrough only realised he had a tattoo after looking in
the mirror the following day.
The prank was in revenge for a tattoo Darnbrough did on his friend's
leg two years ago which went horribly wrong.
Starting off with a design for a lizard, when that went wrong
Darnbrough tried to turn it into a cross, then some hands and a gun -
leading to one almighty, permanent mess on Gaskell's leg and causing his
partner to "go bonkers".
So when he saw Darnbrough passed out at the party Gaskell says he
"couldn't resist" the opportunity to exact revenge - and spent 30
minutes etching his own design into his pal's back with a DIY tattoo
kit. However, the prank hasn't harmed the pair's friendship and they
still see each other every day.

Bobcat goes fishing, catches shark
It's a picture that could be used as the inspiration for a new SyFy
Channel monster movie.
But it's real. Or so believes the Florida Fish and Wildlife
Conservation Commission.
The photo of a bobcat walking along the beach with a shark in its
mouth is as astounding to see as it is to believe.
John Bailey snapped the photo while walking in Sebastian Inlet State
Park in Vero Beach and sent it to WPLG-TV in Miami.
According to WPLG, the photographer said he noticed the bobcat
staring at a shark that was feeding on a smaller fish.
The bobcat then leaped into the ocean, caught the shark and dragged
it onto the beach.
"Initially, it was pretty quick," Bailey said. "Spotted it, pulled it
up (and) the shark floundered for a while."
