Red Bull Campus Cricket from May 7

Red Bull Campus Cricket (RBCC) Twenty20 tournament will start on May
7. The official launch was held at the P Sara Oval Stadium with the
participation of 14 teams on Thursday.
Former Test cricketer, Sri Lanka selection commmittee member and
match referee Brendon Kuruppu is the Tournament Director and Sri Lanka
vice captain Lahiru Thirimanne, Red Bull Brand ambassador, launched the
tournament with a unique 'bowl-out' draw.
The teams are ICBT, ACBT, ANC, APIIT, Auston Institute of Management,
BMS, CINEC, IIHE, IIT, RIC, SLIIT, VHEC, General Sir John Kotelawala
Defence University and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The roun
robin stages will be worked off from May 7 to 9. Quarter-finals will be
held on September 5 and 6. The semi-finals will be played September 12
ending with the National Finals on September 13.
The champion team will be eligible to participate in a spectacular
World Finals scheduled to be held in October in India.
The World finals will see 200 universities from the eight cricketing
nations in Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Pakistan, South
Africa, Sri Lanka and the UAE match their skills. South Africa won this
tournament last time.
