Chinese biz delegations visit Lanka
The Sri Lanka-China Business Council (SLCHBC) facilitated business
meetings and networking sessions with visiting delegations from the
provinces of Liaoning and Yunnan of the People's Republic of China
recently.
These were the last two in a series of five Chinese business
delegations visiting Sri Lanka.
There were four representatives in the Liaoning Provincial Bureau of
Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. The officials expressed an
interest in learning about Sri Lanka, especially the industries and
businesses presenting investment potential.
To further the goal of fortifying economic cooperation and trade
between Sri Lanka and Liaoning, the delegation signed a Memorandum of
Understanding with the SLCHBC.
The Yunnan delegation was large and varied, with representatives from
21 organisations, such as Yunnan Provincial General Chamber of Commerce
(YPGCC), Yunnan Wan Xinglong Biological Technology Group Co. Ltd.,
Nanfang Education Investment Group and Kunming Reunion Business Co. Ltd.
The business and networking session attracted around 70 participants,
including officials from the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka and the
Sri Lanka Exports Development Board. The visit was to promote trade and
economic cooperation between Yunnan Province and Sri Lanka and to
discuss the upcoming 'China-South Asia Expo' in Kunming, China, from
June 12-16.
The Yunnan representatives focused on cooperation particularly in the
fields of education, construction, agricultural products and medical
instruments.
The Liaoning and Yunnan delegations were keen to link their
respective websites with that of the SLCHBC. This will enhance access to
information on the business climate and investment opportunities in Sri
Lanka and China, hopefully facilitating further collaborative growth in
the future. |
