Airport Shopping Festival winners receive prizes

The winners of the 'Airport Shopping Festival' conducted by Airport
and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited (AASL) from December 1, 2014
to January 31, 2105 received their prizes last week at the Bandaranaike
International Airport (BIA).
The promotion was held for the fifth consecutive time and the main
sponsor was Ideal Motors (Pvt) Ltd.

The shopping festival is organised every year by the collective
effort of the shop owners at the BIA and the AASL.
Passenger Deepesh Pradhan of Mumbai, India was picked as the grand
prize winner. He received a Cherry J3 car, gifted by Ideal Cherry
Automobiles (Pvt) Ltd.
The winning coupon had been issued by the World Duty Free Shop at the
Bandaranaike International Airport. All taxes due to be paid by the
winners were borne by AASL thereby affording an absolute benefit to the
winners.
The other sponsors were Nations Trust Bank, American Express and
Dialog.
The shopping festival was organised to promote the airport among
passengers.
AASL and the Airport Duty Free concessionaires donated Rs. 135,000 to
the Cerebral Palsy Lanka Foundation at Wattala, to purchase wheelchairs
for children affected by Cerebral Palsy and other development disorders,
as a Corporate Social Responsibility.
Chairman, AASL, Ananda Wimalasena was the chief guest. Deputy
Chairman, Ideal Automobile (Pvt) Ltd, Aravinda de Silva, Vice Chairman,
AASL, Sanjeewa Wijerathna and Executive Director, AASL, Ms. Ruwani Dias
Bandaranaike, senior managerial representative of the sponsors and
Concessionaires, Heads of Department of AASL were also present.
When passengers arrive in the airport they should feel that Sri Lanka
is an ideal location for shopping .
The other objectives are to reward passengers passing through the BIA
and to enhance standards and sales of duty free operations at the BIA,"
president, Duty Free Distributors Association and member, Steering
Committee, Nimal Udesh said. |
