Astronomy Olympiad Competitions: Deadline extended

The closing date for receiving applications for the Sri Lankan Astronomy Olympiad Competitions has been extended to June 6. Both the ninth Sri Lankan Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad (SLAAO) competition and the fifth Sri Lankan Junior Astronomy Olympiad (SLJAO) competition will be held on Saturday June 20.

The competitions will commence at 11.00 a.m. at the examination centres in the Universities of Colombo, Kelaniya, Ruhuna (Matara), Rajarata (Mihinthale), Jaffna and the Open University Centres in Kandy (Polgolla) and Batticaloa.

Those who wish to participate in the above competitions much inform the organisers on or before June 6 and registered themselves by sending an application form. Application forms have been sent to the schools and can also be downloaded from the Institute of Physics, Sri Lanka website www.ipsl.lk says Prof. Chandana Jayaratne, National Coordinator of the Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiads.
