UNP Working Committee urges:

Dissolve Parliament now

Lashing out at the Opposition UPFA’s “concerted efforts to undermine” the Government’s endeavour to rebuild democracy in the country, the United National Party’s Working Committee has called for an immediate dissolution of Parliament and the holding of general elections in order that the current democratic transition can proceed as the people have mandated.

The UNP Working Committee, which met on Friday also affirmed, in a statement issued yesterday, that the UNP’s position on the number of seats in Parliament as provided for in the proposed 20th Amendment to the Constitution remains as originally proposed by the party.
