Engaging youth as peacemakers
Sri Lanka Forum Theatre Program Phase III is being implemented by Sri
Lanka Development Journalist Forum (SDJF) in partnership with the
Western and Southern Province Educational Departments. The objective of
this program is to promote a culture of non-violence, tolerance,
diversity and pluralistic values among societies, primarily amongst
students through forum theatre performances.
Succeeding the previous two programmes, The Forum Theatre Phase III
shall be conducted in the Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts. The
objective of this program is to engage school children and youth as
peace makers and promote a culture of non-violence, diversity and
pluralistic values through forum theatre performances.
Training on forum theatre and creative drama writing will be done
free for the selected applicants who will participate in the program
from the above districts.
36 youth from Tamil, Sinhala and the Muslim communities are to be
selected, and priority will be given to those men and women between the
ages of 18 - 35 and are from the Kalutara, Galle and Matara
districts.Those young men and women who are interested in acting, drama
script-writing, organizing social dialogues and expressing innovative
ideas through writing can apply for this programme.
