Dhammika Harischandra |
Meepe Mohottige Dhammika Harischandra of Sri Lanka Air Force is a
leading woman weightlifter at present. She has established 19 Sri Lanka
records including a Sri Lanka record at the XX Commonwealth games
lifting 95kg in Clean and Jerk.
Dhammika Harischandra has won the National title in her weight class
for the 14th consecutive year. She is an old girls of Hureekaduwa MMV
and in School she did Athletics, Netball, Volleyball, Basketball and
Cricket. She started Weightlifting in 2003 from Kandy YMCA under the
coaching of Athula Wijewickrema, the former National Coach in
weightlifting.
Presently Dhammika is hard at practice at the YMCA Weight Lifting
Centre under the coaching of Athula Wijewickrema, preparing for the
forthcoming National Weightlifting Contest to be held at Polonnaruwa. |
