The Ceylon Workers' Congress (CWC) signed nomination papers yesterday (Saturday) and will submit their nominations at the respective government secretariats tomorrow (Monday), party president Muthu Sivalingam told the Sunday Observer. They will contest in five plantation districts and in the Colombo district on the basis of an understanding reached with the UPFA.

In Kandy, Badulla and Kegalle electoral districts, they will contest on the party symbol 'cockerel' while in the Nuwara Eliya, Matale and Colombo they will contest on the UPFA symbol the betel leaf, Sivalingam said.

Party leader Arumugan Thondaman and he are contesting in the multi-member electoral district of Nuwara Eliya, from which they were returned to Parliament in the previous general elections, he said.
