Kandy to contest Asian club rugby tournament

Kandy Sports Club have been invited through the SLRFU as the champion club to take part in the inaugural Asia Rugby Western Clubs Champions League tournament which will kick-off on September 11 in Dubai.

The winners will be able to call themselves the Champion Rugby Club in the Western half of Asia.

This is a concept which Asia Rugby hopes to expand over the coming years for the Champion clubs of domestic league tournaments in the region. For this competition Asia Rugby will appoint a Tournament Director and Match Commissioner for each match.

They will also appoint Panel Citing Commissioners for each match and a Judicial Officer for the tournament.

Each team is eligible to submit a squad of 25 players.
