Lankaputhra Development Bank to help kidney patients

Lankaputhra Development Bank (LDB) recently carried out its latest social service program at Unagalawehera and Shanthipura.

LDB presented water purification systems to people to combat kidney ailments commonly found in these regions.

The purification systems will provide drinking water to 187 families who need around 4,000 to 5,000 litres of water daily.

Drinking water samples from Unagalawehera and Shanthipura were analysed by the National Water Supply and Drainage Board and found to be contaminated and, therefore, unsuitable for consumption. It has been revealed that the primary reason for the spread of kidney disease in this region is the consumption of contaminated water.

Following a request by the Giritale Civic Environmental Society to provide a solution for this problem, LDB presented the water purification systems as a part of its social service program.

LDB has always given priority to social service programs on a regular basis, as it provides financial solutions to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME).
