Appointed chairman good governance team of World Scout Movement
The
International Commissioner of Sri Lanka Scouts and member of the Asia
Pacific Regional Scout Committee, attorney-at-Law, Janaprith Fernando
has been appointed Chairman of the Global Support and Good Governance
Team of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement. The Scout movement
is the largest youth organisation with a membership of 40 million
registered in 162 National Scout Organisations (NSO).
Janaprith is the first Sri Lankan to be appointed chairman of a World
Scout body and the Asia Pacific Regional Scout Committee and was the
District Commissioner for Colombo from 2005 to 2010. A senior
attorney-at-law running his own chamber 'Capital Law Chambers' has been
a past Assistant Secretary and Vice President of the Bar Association of
Sri Lanka and Past Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President and President of
the Colombo Law Society for 2008/09 and 2009/10.
Janaprith has been awarded several medals and awards by Heads of
State of Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Malaysia, Phillipines, the Princess of
Thailand and Chief Scout of Korea in recognition of his services to the
scout movement.
Presently he serves as an advisor to the Minister of Tourism and
Sports and sits in several committees and boards of companies including
the committee review and amend the Sports Law and Regulations. |
