Cinnamon's resort hotels bag 184 medals at Culinary Art 2015

Cinnamon's resort hotels won 184 medals at the Chef's Guild Competition - Culinary Art Food Expo 2015 organized by the Chefs' Guild of Sri Lanka. Every resort under the group won multiple medals. There was a noteworthy increase of 11 additional medals won this year compared to the competition held in 2013.

This event is patronized by chefs and food and beverage personnel of nearly all hotels and restaurants in Sri Lanka and is an internationally acclaimed event, where chefs and F&B personnel get the opportunity to showcase their culinary talents at a professional level.The Chefs' Guild Culinary Art competition is held every two years. This was the 16th event where over 2500 contestants battled it out for top honours over a three-day competition under various categories ranging from live cooking events to artistic showpiece challenges and cocktail competitions.

The expert chefs and food and beverage teams of the Cinnamon resorts achieved the best results ever recorded by the resort group with a total of 18 gold, 54 silver and 112 bronze medals.

Speaking at a function held at the Cinnamon Bey Beruwala to recognize the winners, Sector Head for Sri Lanka and Maldives resorts, Sunimal Senanayake said, "We at Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts, are committed to constantly raise the bar in all our product and service offerings. We encourage and empower our associates to be innovative and passionate in everything they do and a competition of this nature gives them a platform to showcase their talents and skills."

He further added, "Our objective was to encourage maximum participation of our associates across all our resorts in Sri Lanka at this event. We are delighted that 119 of them have won medals. We are proud of each and every one of them for this great achievement".

Chaaya Tranz Hikkaduwa won 49 medals in total as well as a Gold Excellence Award for Best Apprentice Dessert, while Cinnamon Bey Beruwala won two Gold Excellence Awards for Best Butter Sculpture and Best Artistic Chocolate Show-piece amongst its 22 medals. Both Cinnamon Citadel Kandy and Cinnamon Lodge Habarana won over 20 medals each and Chaaya Village Habarana, Cinnamon Wild Yala, Chaaya Blu Trincomalee and Bentota Beach Hotel accounted for the remaining wins.
