Muhammed Buhari , recently elected President of Nigeria
I am writing to you as a person who has observed with dismay the
horrendous and vicious calamities endured upon the peaceful Sri Lankans
by the, most ruthless terrorist organization in the world, the LTTE.
It is with the same state of mind that I read the numerous atrocities
including mass scale abductions and massacres of innocents were done and
are being done by the ruthless Boko Haram, the barbaric lunatics in your
country.
Congratulations on being elected as the new President of Nigeria, the
first Nigerian to defeat a sitting President through an election.
It was a heartening message of hope to all peace loving countrymen of
your country, when you proclaimed that you will take every measure to
wipe out the Boko Haram menace as the President of all Nigerians. Good
luck Mr. President.
Yes, as lovers of peace, we wait for that day to dawn, once again to
congratulate you and say ‘Well done Sir’. I wish to state that former
President Mahinda Rajapakse with the assistance of all forces wiped out
the brutal LTTE terrorist from our motherland. However, my humble advice
is to learn the lessons from my country.
The peaceful environment that you maintained after your election
victory as President is commended and political analysts categorized it
as a new beginning for your country.
When you win the battle against the terrorists, do not let your party
supporters inflict, any harm to the opposition members or take revenge
from your opponents.
Do not try to change the Constitution to suit personal agendas. Fill
important positions and vacancies with qualified, honest and dignified
personnel irrespective of party affiliations.
Do not let corrupt politicians and officials to thrive and rob your
country. You must lead the country by example.
Let the judiciary system act independently and punish the corrupt
without government interference.
Let your country have free and fair subsequent elections anywhere in
your country without abuse of power.
Do not use state funds, officials and facilities for your party’s
future election campaigns.
Do not bribe terrorists for any reason. Try to minimize civilian
casualties when you engage in a war with the terrorists.
Do not interfere with the police and other forces and let them do
their duties in an unbiased manner.
Be careful of your own relatives, bogus lackeys and promoters who
will bring disrepute to you and to your downfall sooner or later.
Do not let the virulent cancer of corruption multiply and ramify
among the ruling party politicians and bureaucrats. Act according to
your religion, Islam without using it as a propaganda tool.
When you win the war and make a corrupt-free, just society in your
country you will stay in the hearts and minds of all your countrymen
forever. Many leave memories but only a handful leave behind legacies
which benefit humanity.
Hope and wish that you will become the second Mandela of the African
continent.
Good luck to you the President of Nigeria.
A Sri Lankan
CBK’s commitment to good governance
Former President, Chandrika Bandaranaike’s disillusionment over the
present UPFA candidates had been again clearly envisaged at the recent
addresses she made at Eheliyagoda and Embilipitiya where she requested
not to vote for ‘elements’ from the UPFA.
Her fear was that if the UPFA secured 113 seats ,again, the dark era
of tyranny and mayhem would continue leading the country into a
destructive path.
Her commitment to good governance and ensuring democracy in Sri Lanka
to strengthen the hands of President, Maithripala Sirisena is welcome
and a timely action to save the country from misrule.
