Nalanda College won the 'Singer Trophy' Under 17 division 11 inter
school cricket tournament by beating Wadduwa Central in the final on
Thursday at the R.Premadasa International Cricket stadium Colombo.
Wadduwa Central won the toss and elected to field and Nalanda made
216 runs for 8 wickets in 50 overs with Lahiru De Silva scoring 62 runs
in 81 balls with four sixes and a boundary.
Dineth Silva skipper of Nalanda scored 50 in 61 balls with eight
boundaries and a six.
Wadduwa Central were bowled out 182 as Evinda Hettiarachchi took 4
for 22 runs and Pumuditha Wimalasiri took 3 for 36. Lahiru De Silva was
adjudicated man of the final.
The Awards ceremony was graced by chief guest K.D.S Kanishka from
Singer, Ranjith Jayasundara (Principal - Nalanda College), Dilshan De
Silva (Secretary SLSCA) and Wasantha Haputhanthri (Tournament Secretary
U-17 SLSCA).
