One killed, three injured in train accident

A 42- year- old resident of Kopai was killed and three others injured when a train crashed into a car at an unprotected railway crossing in Jaffna around 1 pm yesterday, Police said.

According to Police, the car had attempted to cross the unprotected railway crossing despite the alarm going off as the train approached.

The incident occurred in Jaffna town opposite the Indian High Commission premises located there. The three injured persons were admitted to the Jaffna Base Hospital for treatment.
