India 'Constitution Day' on November 26
It was on this day in the year 1949 the Constituent Assembly of India
adopted the Constitution.
Member of Parliament, Dr. Jayampathy Wickremaratne will deliver a
lecture titled "The Making and Working of the Indian Constitution: Some
Issues of Relevance" on Thursday, November 26 at 6.00 p.m. at the
Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute for International Relations and Strategic
Studies "The Lighthouse", Horton Place, Colombo-7.
GFS sale in aid of hostel
A sale of miscellaneous items for the family will be held at the GFS
Hall, Green Path, Colombo 3 on Friday, November 27 at 8 a.m. in aid of
the GFS Hostel Development Fund.
The GFS Hostel has for over 50 years provided girls from the
outstations with a place to stay in Colombo to pursue their higher
studies and build successful careers.
Remembering Sri Sathya Sai Baba
The 90th advent of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba will be celebrated on
November 23 at 5. a.m. at the Sai Mandhir, Barnes Place, Colombo.
The programme will conclude by 8.30 AM with Bhajans and Mangala
Aarathi. The evening programme will be held at the New Kathiresan Hall ,
Opposite Bambalapitiya flats from 5.00 p.m.
Krishnamurti Talk
A recorded public talk on 'How can the brain transform itself ?'
delivered by the late Indian sage, Jiddu Krishnamurti will be replayed
at Anula Nursery School, High Level Road, Colombo 6, today , November 22
at 9.45 a.m. It is organised by the Krishnamurti Centre, Sri Lanka Inc.
Colombo Chapter Family get-together 2015
The Colombo Chapter of the Alumni Association of University of
Peradeniya will hold its 'Family Get-together' for 2015 on November 29
from 9.30 a.m. at the Eco Friendly Bird Park, Buthgamuwa Road,
Kalapaluwawa, Rajagiriya.
Music will be provided by Mahanama Wicramasingha and his group with
vocals from Manoratna, Diddeniya and Mark Anthony of 'Sinhabahu' fame.
Workshop on humanitarian law
The Sri Lanka Press Institute will conduct a two-day workshop for
journalists to gain an understanding of humanitarian law, human rights
and treaty obligations on the November 30 and December 1 at the SLPI
premises.
