Amazing Ashan grabs top award

Wet weather conditions prevailed at the Pannala Race track but it
could not hamper the thrill-filled day which saw the champions emerge
when the final round of the CEAT SLARDAR-AMRC Tarmac Championship 2015
came to a successful conclusion last week.
Rider and driver battled it out despite extreme conditions and
managed to compete in full spirit without any major incidents. The
fastest event of the day saw champion driver Ashan Silva at his best
until the last few laps. But a keen tussle between seasoned drivers and
few mishaps saw Ashan finishing last in the first race.
The SL GT up to 3500cc race saw Dilan Seneviratne finishing first
ahead of Ushan Perera and Pasindu Peiris who were placed second and
third respectively.
However Ashan Silva returned to his usual form in the SL-GT Race Two
after a tough battle with Pasindu Peries to claim the victory as well as
the CEAT SLARDAR-AMRC Tarmac Championship for 2015.
Both these races were in heavy rain and all drivers showed their
class and experience to handle these super powered cars to end both
races without any major incidents.
EZY Racings Sajaad Zuhair delivered his usual best by winning
comfortably in the SLH 1600 event over Irfan Fuard who was closely
followed by Shehara De Silva, the only female driver on the grid.
The experienced EZY Racing driver completed yet another win in the
SLS 1500 event over Madushan Mannaperuma and Nishan Wasalathanthri to
win the CEAT-SLARDAR-AMRC Tarmac Championship for the respective events
in 2015.

Chandima Goonaratne secured the SL F Formula McLarens 4 EFI 1300cc
championship when he topped the points tally after the third and final
leg of the championship.
Goonaratne had no difficulty in winning his event while Sumal
Warnakulasooriya won the Group - SL F Formula McLarens Carburetor 1300cc
event which was conducted simultaneously along with the EFI event.
However, Lakshika Weerasinghe who was on top at the end of three
legs, claimed the championship surpassing Warnakulasooriya. Super Motard
super star Suraj Perera held his nerves to win the Super Motard 450cc
event. He also claimed the Tarmac championship for the year 2015.
Young rider Pramuka Sesath showed his class to win the Standard /
Modified up to 1000cc event to emerge the Tarmac Champion for the year
2015. Other highlights of the day were Romesh Gunawardana and Shenal
Gunawardana (17 years) who won the Ford Laser Mazda 1300 and 1500 events
respectively.
Both these events featured 13 to 14 cars each on the grid.
