A
multisensory dining experience
'Gastronomic Symphony' is a one of a kind, multisensory dining
experience that sets ablaze all five senses of Taste, Touch, Sight,
Smell and Hearing through a unique culinary voyage elevated by music.
Orchestrated by Jehan Aloysius, this is a 'must experience' event of
music and dramatic gourmet cuisine coming together to titillate the
discerning bon vivant.
Food is evolving across the world, from just creating taste to
stimulating dining experiences. Today an increasing number of
restaurateurs and chefs experiment with smells, sounds, textures and
other stimuli to show how 'off plate' elements play a role in the
perception and enhancement of flavour. Sri Lankan palates are becoming
more and more sophisticated and culinary offerings needs to reflect this
change. As such 'Gastronomic Symphony' will take the diners on a journey
of multi-sensory phantasmagoria of tastes and emotions through the
blending of music and food.
Sachi Fernando - Senior Brand Manager - Knorr, addressing a media
gathering held to announce the event said, her company was proud to
present such a unique multisensory gastronomic experience which
showcases the interactions between flavours, aromas, and textures, as
well as music and theatre. "We believe it will be the first of its kind
ever to be held in Sri Lanka that will marry a culinary voyage of fine
dining in an enhanced musical experience; an event not to be missed by
both gourmands as well as music lovers."
The musical and theatrical genius of Jehan Aloysius adds the magical
dimension of music to the 'Gastronomic Symphony', taking the audience
through a stimulating journey evoking a sense of nostalgia, fantasy and
drama. Speaking at the media gathering, Jehan said, "Each element of the
project is carefully crafted to perfection and enhanced by music to
stimulate an emotional response. "We have brought together virtuosos
performers from the world of music, opera, dance, drama, and gourmet
cuisine, when combined creates a memorable dining experience that
stimulates all the senses."
Performing at the media briefing were Kumudini David who sang
'Summertime', while Johanne Pieris accompanied her on the piano.
'Gastronomic Symphony', which promises a 'Sumptuous Feast for your
Senses' through a carefully crafted evening of gastronomic delights
enhanced by music will take place on February 26 and 27 at the Oak Room,
