When I grow
Hope, wish, fantasy....
Call it what you may, but everyone dreams of being someone or doing
something different when they grow up. Some dream of being astronauts,
rocket scientists, space explorer... Some dream of being clowns,
comedians and running away to a circus. Still others want to be lawyers,
doctors, cricketers or superstars.
The sky, as they say, is the limit to your dreams... But what's the
fun if you keep it all to yourself? So why not put pen to paper, or
finger to keyboard, and share with us what you dream of being when you
grow up? You can mail your dreams, along with your photograph to
[email protected] or send it by snail mail to 'Junior Observer', No.

My ambition is to be a doctor

My name is Sachi Prabah Weerasekara. I am studying in Grade Seven at
the International School in Payagala. My ambition is to be a doctor. I
obtain good results in science, 80 and 90 at all the examinations. A
doctor treats patients well for illness or an infectious disease. I will
do my best to get an 'A' for Science at the GCE O/L and A/L
examinations. I hope my dream comes true.
I yearn to be an astronomer
My name is Chandu Dissanayake. I am studying in Grade five at Royal
International School, Kurunegala. I like to study about space. I will
study hard and become a great astronomer. I have read many books and
magazines about outer space. I will find the biggest planet in the
universe and look for aliens. I have heard that aliens have one eye, one
ear, one head, one forehead, one leg and one stomach. They don't eat but
they live. They have magical powers to float and have their own
vehicles. I hope my dream comes true and that I receive a Nobel prize.
An IT engineer, my goal
I am Avishka Ishan. I am studying at President's College, Kotte. I am
in the Mathematics stream (Advanced Level).
My ambition is to be an IT engineer. I like modern technology and
hope to reach the top and serve my country. I hope my dream comes true.
My dream is to be a teacher
My dream is to be a teacher one day. I want to help children learn.
As a teacher we teach and learn.
My name is M.R.F. Ramla and I am studying in Grade seven at Al- Manar
National School in Kandy. Teaching is a profession which gives happiness
and satisfaction. I like to spend time with children. The happiness we
gain from teaching cannot be expressed in words. I will try hard to
achieve my dream.
