50 years, a teacher


Merril J. Perera

Merril J. Perera will celebrate 50 years in the teaching profession this year. He devoted 38 years of his teaching career at St. Benedict's College, Colombo 13 and after retirement was at Aquinas University College (English Department) and Leighton Park International School where he is teaching at present.

In addition to being a class teacher at St. Benedict's College, he was also in-charge of prefects, visiting class teacher, Senior Supervisor and head Master (Upper School). He was the house master of Christian House and contributed his best towards the progress of the College.

A thanksgiving mass will be offered at St.Lucia's Cathedral, Colombo 13 on Saturday, March 19 at 4.30 p.m.


Trinushka in Dean’s List

Trinushka Hikeshi Perera from Sri Lanka, has been honoured with membership into the International Dean’s List Society for exemplary academic performance at the University of West Georgia.

Trinushka Hikeshi Perera is currently majoring in Sociology and anticipates graduating in Fall 2016.

Having gained her primary education at Ladies’ College, Colombo 7 Sri Lanka, Trinushka continued to excel at the National Institute of Social Development, under the Sri Lanka School of Social Work with the idea of pursuing her Bachelors Degree in social work for three years.

Having a passion to give back to society through her leadership, Trinushka received the Georgia Rotary Student Program Scholarship in 2015.

Having been nominated by the Rotary Club of Colombo Centennial and sponsored by the Georgia Rotary Student Program, Trinushka completed her Degree at the University of West Georgia as a senior following a BSc (Hons) in Sociology while being a student ambassador for Rotary representing Sri Lanka.

Trinushka is a recipient of the 2015 Dean’s List at West Georgia, 2015 Multicultural Achievement Program Award recipient and a recipient of the Alpha Kappa Delta Sociology Honor Society for her exemplary academic excellence.

Trinushka plans to pursue her education further after graduating at West Georgia. She plans to follow an M.A., in Diplomacy and International Relations Graduate program at the Seton Hall University in New York, USA.
