Localising Global Goals
Sri Lanka Model United Nations (SLMUN), the largest student-run
conference in South Asia, will host the national conference on the theme
'Localising Global Goals 2016' at the Bandaranaike Memorial
International Conference Hall (BMICH) from September 9 to 11. Organised
by the Executive Committee of SLMUN 2016, registrations for the
conference got underway on March 1 and will continue till June 30, 2016.
Teenagers from 13 to 19 are eligible to participate and can register on
line at slmun.org.
SLMUN
is a youth platform that contributes to improve, enhance and restructure
local as well as international policy through the concerted debate of
young minds from all corners of the island and the world. This
exceptional event has been held consecutively for 10 years providing
youth an opportunity to change the world in their own unique way while
finding resolutions for crisis arising day by day.
The Committees at the conference are the General Assembly 1, General
Assembly 3, Historical General Assembly, UNHRC, Security Council, ECOSOC,
AU and UNODC. Youth in every corner will be given training on conference
procedures through workshops held at regional bases. Awareness Programs
will be organised to inform students on SLMUN a practice debates will be
conducted close to the conference to develop and stabilise the
diplomatic dexterity within the delegates.
Registration fee for school delegates is Rs 3000 and private
delegates are Rs.4000 (Registrations after April 30, 2016 will be
charged an extra Rs.500). |
