Passion Play
Closer to Jesus
 A
musical journey of the Passion of Christ, titled ‘Closer To Jesus’,
presented by Psalm Studios, will be held on March 18, 2016 at the Our
Lady of Fatima Church, Colombo 10, from 6.30 p.m. The Gospel Service
will be conducted by Rev. Fr. Angelo Wijewickrama (OMI) along with Choro
Calibre and Black and White Orchestra.
‘Choro Calibre’ will be performing in Closer to Jesus for the 5th
consecutive year, while Black and White Orchestra is the newest
introduction. Both are owned and managed by Shamal De Silva, one half of
the music director duo of Psalm Studios. Spiritual direction for the
program is being provided by Rev. Fr. Angelo, parish priest of the
Church of Our Lady of Fatima, Dean of the Colombo Deanery, and a
musician who has been part of ‘Closer to Jesus’ from its inception in
2012.
The spiritual journey of ‘Closer to Jesus’ will comprise Hymns,
Prayers and Reflections with a memorable choral presentation and live
performance of the orchestra. A fine selection of video inputs and
meaningful Karaoke lyrics will also be included to re-enforce the themes
and enable participative singing that will precede from the creation
story to Christ’s Passion and Death. The service will conclude with The
Benediction and The Healing Experience of God.
Psalm Studios is a fully equipped Audio and Video production house
situated in Kelaniya, specialising in Christian religious productions
and events. The music directors of Psalm Studios, Shamal De Silva and
Harsha Ignatious.
 Gelawumkaruwaano
St. Michael’s Church in Koralawella, Moratuwa, will stage
Gelawumkaruwaano the annual passion play, at the church on March 18 and
19 at 7.00. p.m. Staged under the guidance of parish priest Rev. Fr.
Shihan Indika Perera, the passion play this year carries the theme
‘Change your life through Jesus Christ’.
With a host of talents coming together from the devoted parishioners,
the play is expected to bring to life a manifestation of the piety and
devotion of the congregation. All well wishers are welcome.
