Largest heroin haul:
Investigations are under way to arrest the suspects in connection
with the heroin haul where over 100 kilograms of heroin were
confiscated on the high seas, according to the Sri Lankan Navy. The
joint operation was coordinated by the Police Narcotics Bureau and
the Sri Lanka Navy.
After CID grilling:
A full inquiry needs to be conducted on the recent discovery of
explosives and the suicide vest found in Chavakachcheri, without
simply dismissing the threat to national security, Prof. G.L. Peiris
told the Sunday Observer shortly after making a statement to the
Criminal Investigation Department yesterday.
The murder investigation of Lasantha Wickrematunge, the founder
editor of the Sunday Leader is to be completed in the coming weeks,
after several snags that delayed the process.
