The UNP’s internal reshuffle had been the cause for heartburn of some
senior members, including those who have been re-appointed to positions
other than what they already hold. A senior and vocal member of the UNP
said even Minister Daya Gamage was not happy to lose the national
organiser’s post.
The politburo of the Sri Lanka Muslims Congress (SLMC) will meet on
April 15 at ‘Darussalam’, the party headquarters, where issues
surrounding the removal of powers vested with the Secretary General
Hassan Ali would be taken up for discussion.
This week in Parliament
Joint Opposition members enacted a ‘drama’ again in
Parliament on Wednesday protesting against a government decision to
reduce security provided for former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The
Joint Opposition members who made a hue an cry in the Chamber accused
the government.
