Roller Skating in Kandy

The sport Roller Skating which was introduced to Sri Lanka seven years ago has gathered momentum and becoming popular in many provinces in the Island.

Roller Skating was introduced to Mahamaya College Kandy by a veteran coach Rathnasiri Perera who has learnt the art in France. The sport is extremely popular in European countries and is also an Olympic sport. Perera has attended many coaching

Stints in China with four more Sri Lankans. He said that the new sport had the blessings of the Ministry of Sports with the Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera giving a sum rupees one million to purchase roller skating shoes to whoever wants to pursue with the sport.
