Investment opportunities up to US$ 40m offered- Minister

Megapolis development project:
The Western Region megapolis development project will offer
investment opportunities to the tune of US $ 40 billion to foreign
investors during the next 15 years, Minister of Strategic Development
and International Trade, Malik Samarawickrama told a visiting German
business delegation at a forum last week.
There are also investment opportunities in Hambantota, Kandy,
Trincomalee and the Jaffna districts, he said.
The 29-member German business delegation was led by Parliamentary
State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and
Energy, Uwe Beckmeyer.
B2B meetings with Sri Lankan business representatives were also held.
The Minister said the Government has taken steps to revitalise Sri
Lanka's democratic credentials, improve governance, and strengthen the
rule of law. Deputy Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, Ajith Perera
and State Secretary Uwe Beckmeyer signed a joint declaration of intent
about cooperation on sustainable energy between the Ministry of Power
and Renewable Energy and the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and
Energy.
A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Megapolis and
Western Development and Seimens was also signed. |
