NPC Motion on Jayalalithaa's victory vetoed
An attempt to adopt a Motion at the Northern Provincial Council to
congratulate the newly elected Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa
Jeyaram recently was suspended, when some of the members opposed the
move, citing the disaster situation in the country. The congratulatory
note was proposed by Chief Minister C.V.Wignesvaran as the first item on
the agenda, UPFA councillor V. Jayathilake objected saying the Council
should first pass a condolence vote for landslide and flood victims at a
time when such a massive natural disaster occurred.
He was backed by TNA member Anton Jeganathan.
