Kumudika Fernando - 'Business Role Model of the Year'

Kumudika Fernando was honoured as 'Business Role Model of the Year' at
the 'Professional and Career Women Awards 2016' recently.

She was recognised for her outstanding efforts in contributing to the
national and regional economy through her involvement at Maliban Biscuit
Manufactories.
Held for the sixth consecutive year, the awards show recognizes
exemplary women leaders, and encourages them to become role models for
the next generation to increase the percentage of women representation
in Sri Lanka at the managerial level. Organised by Women in Management (WIM)
in partnership with IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, the awards
aims to have women at decision-making levels with a representation of
15% or greater by 2020.
Fernando was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2009. Today she
leads a professional management team as the Managing Director of the
company.
She received her primary education at Holy Family Convent, Colombo
and completed her higher education in Singapore and the United States of
America. She holds a Master's Degree in Psychology.
She was instrumental in implementing sales force automation and
facilitated the entire process of incorporating retailer information to
the management decision-making process. Fernando pioneered and
implemented an ERP system to integrate all business functions of the
company.
She has given a new direction to the company by leading all
diversification projects both locally and overseas to capitalize growing
opportunities in the food business landscape. |
