16th DSI Volleyball boys and girls Championship:
St Joseph Vaz, Galigamuwa Central emerge champs

St Joseph’s Vaz College Wennappuwa and Galigamuwa Central College
Kegalle became the Boys and Girls Under-18 champions respectively at the
16th DSI Sri Lanka Schools Volleyball Championship which ended at the
Maharagama Youth Service Centre yesterday.
Joseph’s Vaz beat Dammissara College Nattandiya by 3 sets to 2 in the
final after a thrilling battle to bag the coveted DSI Boys Championship
and Galigamuwa Central College won the Girls Championship outplaying
Dammissara Central College by three straight sets to nil in the final.
Nimesh Priyamantha of St Joseph’s Vaz College was adjudged the Boys
Best Player of the Tournament and his award was presented by Education
Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, who graced the occasion as the Chief
Guest.
Galigamuwa Central College’s M Gunawardena won the Girls Best Player
of theTournament Award.
In the Under-16 age category, Ratanapala Maha Vidyalaya Anamaduwa
became Girls champions and St Xavier’s College Maravila clinched the
Boys championship.
