Milo schools netball from July 30

The final stages of the Sri Lanka Schools Neball Championship will be
worked off from July 30 to August 1 at the Uyanwatte Stadium, Matara,

It was announced at a press briefing held at the CR and FC conference
room recently. Powered by Milo for the 25th year a household brand name
of Nestle Lanka PLC, which has been contributing immensely for the
sports in Sri Lanka, will sponsor for the 25th occasion this year. It
marks the Silver Jubilee year with the Sri Lanka Schools Netball
Association (SLSNA) and the Education Ministry. Netball, being the
number one sports among girls in Sri Lanka, the championship has
attracted over 1,000 schools taking part Islandwide providing a big
impact of the game's history as it started with 27 schools way back in
1991.
The matches will be played under four age categories, Under-13,-14,
-16 and Under-18. Three hundred and sixty teams will be participating in
this year's tournament and accommodation will be provided in four Matara
Schools - Sujatha Vidyalaya, Rohana Maha Vidyalaya, St Mary's Convent
and Mahamaya Maha Vidyalaya.The opening ceremony will be held from 9am
on July 30 (Saturday) with the participation of Education Minister Akila
Viraj Kariyawasam while the closing ceremony has been arranged on August
1 (Monday). |
