CMI Quiz Challenge 2016: ends on grand note


Dialog Axiata Mercantile 4th placed and sector winners with K Dharmasena CMI Vice Preesident

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) UK Sri Lanka Branch successfully conducted their Quiz challenge 2016 for the third year in succession on Sunday August 7 in Colombo.

A total of 29 teams took part in this quiz for which the questions were compiled by Ruwan Senanayake, International Quizzing Associations' Country Representative for Sri Lanka.

The quiz became more interesting to the participants with some questions being based on visuals and video clips.

Team "Invictus" led by Hasini Minuwanpitiya, emerged the overall winners and were presented the CMI Quiz Challenge Trophy, certificates and a cash award of Rs 100,000/- Her team included Kasun Pathirage, Lakshmi Radhakrishnan, Gayani Minuwanpitiya and Ranuka Dharmaratne as the other members.

Hasini Minuwanpitiya, incidentally, was the best female quizzer in Sri Lanka at the World Quizzing Championships worked out in June this year.

The Runners up of the CMI Quiz Challenge 2016 were Kasun Bandara Ekanayake's team comprising Akila Abesinghe, Kasun Jayakody, Chamath Jayakody and Charudaththta Ekanayake as rest of the members.

They also received an attractive trophy, certificates and a cash prize of Rs 75,000/-

The 3rd place honours went to Shehan Kumar's team which included Pramod de Silva, Dulantha De Silva, Asela Olupeliyawa and Gihan Indraguptha and they received Rs 50,000/- as prize money and certificates of excellence.


DFCC - Banking sector winners with CMI Ex Co member Niranjali Goonasekera

The 4th placed team Dialog Axiata "A" and 5th placed - 99 X Technology team were presented with cash awards of Rs 30,000/- and Rs 25,000/- respectively ( and also certificates) while the sector winners were recognised with attractive trophies.

DFCC Bank team led by Nalin Karunathileka emerged as the best among the Bank teams for the second consecutive year. Other teams in this sector were from Peoples Bank, Seylan Bank (2 teams), Standard Chartered Bank, Pan Asia Bank and HSBC.

Dialog Axiata A team won the top honours in the Mercantile sector and 99 X Technology emerged the top team in the IT and BPO Sector while the Education Sector Award was won by Awakening Toastmasters.

Presentation of the main awards at this Quiz was made by Country Director of British Council Keith Davies, who is also the Vice Patron of CMI Sri Lanka branch.

As was done during the past two years, CMI Sri Lanka Branch presented certificates of participation to all those who took part in this year's event too.

Helanka Vacations were the Event Management Partners of CMI Sri Lanka for this quiz.
