Damro gets nod for expansion in India
Well-known local retailer and furniture specialist, Damro hopes to
expand its presence in India by setting up of mega showrooms in main
cities in that country. The Indian government has already granted
approval for Damro to invest Indian Rs. 12,000 million in the furniture
retail trade in India. This approval to enter the Indian furniture
industry has only been granted to two foreign companies Damro of Sri
Lanka and Ikea of Sweden, a Damro official said. Damro last week opened
a mega showroom, consisting of five storeys in Nugegoda.
... a new shopping experience for local customers. At present, Damro has a
wide network of 150 showrooms in Sri Lanka and 60 showrooms in India. Damro
exports over 1,000 containers of furniture to India annually.
We hope to increase our volumes up to 10,000 containers with the new
investments. We also plan to increase our presence in Sri Lanka by opening two
more mega-stores in Galle and Katubedda shortly, the official said. |
