Winner: My favourite horror movie
There are many horror movies. Among them I like Conjuring, Anabelle,
Insidious and Child Prey. But my favourite horror movie is The
Conjuring. The Conjuring is an American supernatural horror film
directed by James Wan. The first movie was released in 2013 and the
second movie was recently released this year.
I have watched the first movie. This story tells us about a family
haunted by ghosts as they move into a new house. It is based on a true
story that happened a long time ago. The story is very interesting and I
like to watch it again and again.
Now I am looking forward to watching The Conjuring 2 movie which has
become a very popular film these days.

Winner: Importance of the coconut tree
Coconut is one of the main crops of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka gets a huge
income by exporting coconuts. Kurunegala, Puttalam and Colombo make up
the coconut triangle. There are various uses of coconuts to humans. The
flesh of the coconut is used to make sambol and pol toffee. It is also
used to obtain milk and oil. The milk is used for cooking and the oil is
used for lighting oil lamps, frying and for applying on the hair. The
water in the coconut is a good, nutritional and refreshing drink. The
coconut shell is used to to produce steam to run engines, coal, buttons
and spoons. They are also used widely in craft work.
The other parts of the tree such as the leaves and the trunk are also
important. The leaves are used as roofs. The ekels are used in crafts
and to make ekel brooms. The wood of the trunk is used for house needs.
The husk is also a very useful. It is used to make brushes, brooms,
rugs, ropes, fibre and coir. It is also used as craft material. The
flower of the tree is used in medicine and toddy is consumed as an
alcoholic drink. The toddy is also used in making honey and vinegar. The
other parts of the tree like hanassa, buwalla and matulla are also used
in several ways. They are mostly used as firewood and also as craft
material. So, the coconut tree is one of the most important trees in the
world. Let’s prevent cutting down those trees and encourage people to
plant more and more to fulfil our needs.

Winner: The Olympic Games
The Olympic Games are an international sports festival held every
four years in different countries. The history of the Olympic Games is
very old. Its origin is Greece. Marathon was the important event in the
past. The winners were given many gifts but olive leaves were the most
precious treasure which they expected to get.
For a short period the Olympic Games were not held. After some time,
a Frenchman called Pierre De Coubertin strongly felt that the Olympic
Games must resume to promote mutual understanding and peace among
different nations. His plan was a success and it still continues.
At present, the Olympic Games held in different countries bring the
whole world together which promotes world peace. Even now the winners
are awarded olive leaves as a symbol of tradition. Therefore, being
awarded a medal from the Olympic Games is a great honour for a country.

attractive. The school teachers provide a good service to students. The
library teacher has arranged the books neatly in racks. There are
novels, newspapers and many other materials in the library. There is a
big notice displayed “Be silent” in the library. If we fail to return
the books on time, we will be fined. The library is big and it plays a
very important role in promoting the reading habit. There are about
5,000 books. It is our duty to protect the books in our library.
