Ishara Sandaruwan soars high in the men’s Pole Vault final where he set up a new Sri Lanka record.


Nimali, Ishara set new Sri Lanka records

Sri Lanka’s champion middle distance runner Nimali Liyanarachchi set a new Sri Lanka record while national pole vaulter Ishara Sandaruwan renewed his own Sri Lanka record on the third day of the 42nd National Sports Festival held at the Durayappah Stadium in Jaffna yesterday. Western Province dominated the medals tally with 96 medals so far.

 

13th annual Ladies College-Musaeus College Regatta :

Record breaking Musaeus win after five years

Musaeus College won the annual regatta with traditional rivals Ladies College after five years when they swept the board at the 13th bilateral rowing championship held at the Colombo Rowing Club, Beira Lake waters yesterday. Musaeus who won the Flippper Trophy in the Under-18 category of the National Rowing championships concluded recently dominated the regatta securing eight wins out of the ten events to chalk up a tally of 39 points to Ladies’ 13.

 

Singer Cup U19 Schools Cricket:

Bandaranayake, St. Anne’s K’gala in upset wins

Bandaranayake College, Gampaha beat Zahira College Colombo by 23 runs and St. Anne’s College Kurunegala beat De Mazenod College Kandana by 125 runs to record upset wins in the Singer Trophy Under 19 inter-schools cricket tournament matches played at Maradana and Kurunegala respectively yesterday.
