The 'Thai Pongal' Hindu festival on January 14, Monday, will be celebrated in the morning on that day on a grand scale at the Nalloor Sri Kandasamy temple in Jaffna, under the auspices of the Ministry of Hindu Affairs.

minister of Hindu Affairs and MP for Jaffna T. Maheswaran told the "Sunday Observer" that arrangements have already been made for VIPs, including Minister of Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Refugees Dr. Jayalath Jayawardene, to be present on the occasion. Local and international media personnel have also been invited for the occasion, he said. The Rupavahini and other electronic media will broadcast live the religious ceremony at the temple from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
