Sri Lanka Federation of the visually handicapped initiated The Sri Lankan Christian Association in U.K., and the Sri Lanka Federation of the Visually Handicapped (SLFVH) has for the past five years, financed the establishment of the Sri Lanka Federation of the Visually Handicapped Braille Library in its new building at Ahamediya Lane (off Church Street) in Slave Island. The London Association while promising a substantial amount of Rs. 1.1 million donation for this project and has already donated Rs. 2,48,000/-. Ms. Charmaine Jayetilleke (Founder President) and present Vice-President of the Sri Lankan Christian Association, whose brainchild this project was, will formally open the new Braille Library at 10.00 a.m. on Monday 14 January 2002. |
