FIFA suspends Bangladesh Football Federation DHAKA, Jan 11 (Reuters) - FIFA has suspended the membership of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) for violating its rules, world soccer's governing body said on Friday. "The suspension prevents your national association from participating in any international football activities, and from having the right to vote at the FIFA and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) congress," FIFA said in a letter to the BFF, a copy of which was made available to Reuters. FIFA took the decision after BFF president S.A Sultan suspended BFF's elected executive committee in December last year without stating a reason. Sultan, a member of parliament, was appointed by the new government after the Bangladesh Nationalist Party won a landslide victory in a general election in October last year. "This suspension will apply until the situation returns to normal, namely the elected Executive Committee members are re-installed in accordance with FIFA and AFC decision," the FIFA letter said. |
