Program to boost estate sector

The Ministry of Estate Infrastructure will initiate several programs under the 100 days program to revive and boost the economy in the estate sector.

Media Secretary of the Ministry of Estate Infrastructure and Livestock Development H.H. Wickramasinghe said that income generation and self employment projects, improving existing estate roads and water supply projects will be undertaken under the 100 days program, benefitting 11,360 persons and families.

He said that training will be provided to the unemployed youth in industrial sewing, catering, electrical work, light engineering, chemical based industries, bakery products and driving. The Ministry will grant loans to small scale entrepreneurs and trained youth at low interest rates.

Wickramasinghe said that steps will be taken to improve 100 km of roads in selected estates. Three water supply schemes will be inaugurated in selected estates.
