HRC to investigate JMO's complaints

The Human Rights Commission HRC of Sri Lanka is investigating complaints made by judicial Medical Officers (JMOs), over certain allegations that had taken place during the Diploma in Forensic Medicine Examination held last November.

A spokesman for the Commission said that the JMOs concerned who sat for the examination called for an independent body to investigate into those allegations committed by an examiner, who has been the examiner for the examination since 1998.

The JMOs has requested the Director of the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine (PGIM) to prepare a code of behaviour for examiners regarding the conduct of theoretical and practical components of postgraduate examinations.

Meanwhile, a retaired Supreme Court Judge to inquire into the allegations by the PGIM.

Former Dinamina Editor dies

Mr. M. A. de Silva, a leading figure in the Print Media, one time Dinamina Editor (1960-1964) and the first Editor of Lanka Puvath, the Sri Lanka National News Agency and also a former member of the Sri Lanka Press Council, died early hours of Saturday.

Funeral will be on Monday, January 21 at Pothuhera, Kurunegala. His remains is now lying at Jerry Jayasekera, his brother's house Colombo Road, Pothuhera.
