Dejan de Soysa - sixth overall at Go-Kart c'ship in Malaysia

Sri Lankans excelled at the final Formula 100 Go Kart Championship organised by the Kelab Kart Club Selanger in Malaysia and held at the Shah Alam Kart Circuit. The Sri Lankan team was taken by the Motor Racing Association.

Despite having had the disadvantage of the grid positions, Sri Lanka's teenage sensation Dejan de Soysa finished sixth in the overall championship which saw a lot of Malaysians with experience participating. According to the results released each lap covered a distance of 1.125 and comprised 15 laps. Dejan de Soysa timed 13.11.716 minutes with the best lap timing of 51.727 seconds and kept an average speed 76.732 km per hour.

This race was won by Ng Wai Leong of Malaysia with a timing of 12.37.717 minutes with the best lap timing of 49.894 seconds whilst maintaining a speed of 80.175 km/h.

Yoga Perera and Romani de Silva encountered engine problems but they did well to keep going in this highly competitive race. Yoga Perera finished ninth with a timing of 13.23.334 minutes with the best lap timing of 52.282 seconds and the average speed was 75.622 Km/h.

Randy Batcho despite suffering from food poisoning, ended in 10th position with a timing of 12.43.835 minutes (14 laps), with the best lap timing of 53.213 seconds and the average speed was 74.230 Km/h.

Romani de Silva of whom much was expected finished 11th with a timing of 12.47.444 minutes (14 laps) and the best lap timing was 53.030 seconds and the average speed was 73.882 Km/h.

Sri Lanka's formula racing 'maestro' Rohan de Silva finished 12th with a timing of 13.19.205 minutes, his fastest lap timing was 55.238 and drove at an average speed of 70.948 Km/h.

Overall, the above performances can be considered good and the Sri Lankan should improve on this in the future.
