Lehmann makes 143 to boost Australia recall chances

ADELAIDE, Australia, Jan 19 (Reuters) - South Australia captain Darren Lehmann smashed 143 against New South Wales on Friday, strengthening his chances of winning a recall to Australia's struggling limited overs side.

Lehmann's century, which included 22 fours and one six in 130 balls, helped the home side score 287 in their second innings for an overall lead of 314 on the third day of the four-day Australia interstate match at Adelaide Oval.

The visitors will resume at 10 for none in their second innings on Saturday.

Lehmann, part of Australia's World Cup-winning side in 1999 at Lord's against Pakistan, was at his creative best with chip shots over slips for boundaries.

Australia have lost their opening three matches in the one-day series against South Africa and New Zealand and are in danger of missing the finals for only the third time since they started hosting these series in 1979-80.

In Hobart, Tasmania fast bowler Shane Watson took 6-32 and then 5-46 as defending champions Queensland were all out twice in a day for 130 and 101.

Tasmania, who made 281 in their first innings, swept to victory by an innings and 50 runs.

Queensland-born Watson, 20, described taking 11 wickets was "a bit weird".
