Italian donation The Italian government has donated US $500,000 (Euro 516,400) for UNICEF's 'Children in Armed Conflict' project, with the specific condition that the funds be used to help Sri Lankan children in the North and East. Slavatore Zotta, Italian ambassador designate to Sri Lanka, announcing the donation said that the aim of its government was to mitigate the effects of the armed conflict on children and women and to support the implementation of their rights. He also said that special emphasis will be on long-term displaced persons and children living in welfare centres. |
