Peace meditation in A'pura

The Sarvodaya Movement has organised a Peace Meditation to be held on March 15 at the 'Mahamevuna Uyana' Sacred City of Anuradhapura with the hope of changing the collective consciousness about war and peace.

The organisers hope to have around 500,000 people gathered at the Sacred City coming from 15,000 villages in the country. The gathering will be a mixed crowd consisting of people belonging to different ethnic and religious communities and from all walks of life.

On this day simultaneously the organisers hope to introduce Village to Village link up program and 1000 villages in the war-torn North and East will be linked to 1000 villages in the South as Sister villages, through this program. The villagers from the South will go to the North and East with necessary skilled and unskilled labour and material to begin the rehabilitation work. They will engage in construction of religious places of worship, houses, schools, wells, tanks and toilets.
