EPDP, PLOTE disarm The Eelam People's Democratic Party (EPDP) led by Douglas Devananda will hand over their weapons, in Jaffna, to the armed force today, sources said. The EPDP has been operating as a parazmilitant organization along with the armed forces in the North and the East, mainly in the Jaffna Peninsula for the past ten years. The Jaffna district EPDP representative K.V.K. Jegan will hand over around two hundred weapons of various types, to the army officials. They will also hand over weapons, in Vavuniya, Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts today, sources said. Cadres of the People's Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) handed over their weapons yesterday. |
