Fishermen held in India

About 30 fishing craft with over 100 Sri Lankan fishermen have been arrested for allegedly trespassing on Indian territorial waters.

The detainees are kept in several stations such as Tuticorin, Trichi and Andamand Islands, the National Fishermen's Solidarity Foundation revealed recently.

However, according to Ministry sources only 17 fishermen have been arrested and 28 vessels detained from 1998 to date.
