The National Council of the Young Men's Muslim Associations of Sri Lanka - Maligawatte (Inc) vehemently condemns and strongly protests against the dastardly attack on the predominantly Muslim village of the Western Indian State of Gujarat where more than 300 innocent Muslims have been killed since February 27th in cold blood.

In a statement released by Al Haj Jainudeen Ahamath, National President of the National Council of the YMMAs of Sri Lanka has urged that the main culprit Praveen Bhai Dokadiya, President of the Vishva Hindu Samaj should be arrested and kept in custody to avoid further bloodshed.

The National Council of YMMAs' is deeply concerned about the widespread of communal riots in the Indian State of Gujarat.

Hence, the National Council of YMMAs of Sri Lanka calls on all the law enforcement agencies to ensure equal protection to all parties involved to stop violence and also urges the Government of India and the State Government of Gujarat to ensure that the law enforcement agencies are deployed to ensure law and order before it could spread to other states.

The National Council of YMMAs' of Sri Lanka also places on record its thanks to Ms. Jayalalitha Jayaram, Chief Minister of the Indian State of Tamil Nadu for taking prompt action to safeguard Muslims and others from goondas, hooligans and religious fanatics.
