IT mission to Jaffna AIMS Computers International (Pvt) Ltd. was on an IT and goodwill mission to Jaffna recently with Tata Consultancy Services, India (TCS), for which it is a distributor. Kithsiri Manchanayake, Chairman and Managing Director of AIMS and President of the Association of Computer Training Organisations (ACTOS) in the island and T. Ramanan, Business Manager for TCS' software product, EX, visited Jaffna. AIMS has been the distributor in Sri Lanka for EX Next Generation software for the last 10 years. The two companies are now concentrating on training programmes on EX to be implemented island-wide. AIMS has focused on Jaffna as a fast growing region for its software training and sales business and has associated itself with the Institute of Informatics Studies (IIS), Jaffna to carry out this mission. IIS will be the training and sales arm for AIMS in Jaffna for EX business accounting software. AIMS, which has operated in the information and communication technology sector for the last 14 years, carries out software sales and services, software development and systems integration, computer training and mobile phone sales and services. IIS has provided IT training in Jaffna since 1996 and has produced more than 5000 students. A member of ACTOS, it also provides hardware sales and maintenance services. TCS claims to be Asia's largest software services and consultancy company with more than 70 branches throughout the world. It employs over 20,000 software professionals and recorded a more than US$ 700 million turnover last year. Its EX accounting software was launched in 1991 and has delivered nine new versions since then. EX has a more than 200,000 user base in Asia and more than 700 in Sri Lanka. |
