Royal Charter granted to Institute of Management UK The Institute of Management UK (IMUK) has been granted the Royal Charter from the Privy Council in the United Kingdom. From April 1, IMUK will be known by its new name, the Chartered Management Institute. Current statutory members would henceforth become Chartered Managers. The 'Chartered' status will also result in a new image, and full recognition as 'Chartered Managers'. Representing over 90,000 members worldwide, the Institute is a leading professional body for managers, whose members come from all sectors, both public and private, and at all levels of responsibility, from executive to chief executive. The Institute is also a leading body for management qualifications in the UK with over 200 centres, conducting development programmes that lead to a wide range of certificates and diplomas. The Sri Lanka Branch (which is the only branch outside the UK) is planning to work towards developing similar management courses and qualifications geared for our country. |
