Rave reviews for Odel in foreign media

The lifestyle and fashion retail store, Odel Unlimited has received extensive media coverage from several international magazines and newspapers in the recent weeks.

The Singapore-based Retail Asia and The Straits Times and the US-based Retail Ad World have lauded the entrepreneurship of Otara Chandiram, Managing Director of Odel Unlimited, and acknowledged Odel as being on par with renowned international stores.

Apart from commenting on the wide-ranging shopping experience that Odel offers, its advertising and marketing strategies have also received plaudits. Retail Ad World has described Odel ads as "minimalist layout, maximum impact".

The magazine goes on to describe Odel as Sri Lankas "most prominent retailing success, which has attained the status of a world-class department store". It lauds Odel's marketing and advertising campaign, about which Otara Chandiram says: "I want our store and its advertising to have an international look and to be able to fit into any market. I think this is why Odel has a loyal following from people in countries all over the world".

Retail Asia has traced Chandiram's growth from an enthusiastic young woman with a dream into a savvy businessperson, whose entrepreneurial success is now legendary and synonymous with the Odel brand.

It also talks of Odel's constant commitment to the environment and wildlife, and mentions, in particular, Odel's line of clothes and accessories to promote conservation of wildlife in Sri Lanka, and also to promote Sri Lanka as a destination.

The Straits Times on the occasion of Sri Lanka's Independence Day, talks of Chandiram in the same breath as women who have contributed and are continuing to contribute significantly to the nation.

Otara Chandiram in an interview has said: "I feel I have been able to influence many women to feel that being a home-maker is not everything.

"There is a way of being both home-maker and businesswoman, if the desire is there".

Meanwhile, Retail Ad World has carried a large spread of the Odel "No Limits" campaign. Chandiram and Odel were also featured in the latest issue of the Verve magazine and are also scheduled to be featured in the next issue of Stylish Interiors in India.
